Healthiness, naturalness and sustainability perception of adolescents toward chocolate snack bars

Purpose Adolescence is a period in which autonomy grows and where children develop into independent active consumers their food choices are also becoming more autonomous. Snacking known to increase during the of adolescence snack choice adolescents often unhealthy. Therefore, purpose this study know when perceive as healthy. As healthiness perception could be linked naturalness sustainability snack, these interesting product characteristics well. Design/methodology/approach Semi-structured interviews with 20 were conducted characterize healthiness, sustainability. Chocolate bars used stimulus product. Findings All participants mentioned consuming snacks because they like them. Healthiness was seen important but not always priority adolescents' choices. Naturalness concepts aware or did choice. The experiencing natural products healthier compared products. consequences discerned dimensions time, impact effect rather limited for target group.
